Trichocereus deserticolus subsp. fulvilanus cv. ‘896’ | ‘Cacto’ | Live plant

(syn. Cereus fulvilanus, Echinopsis deserticola var. fulvilana, Echinopsis deserticolus subsp. fulvilanus, Echinopsis fulvilana, Echinopsis fulvilanus, Trichocereus fulvilana, Trichocereus fulvilanus)

Trichocereus deserticolus subsp. fulvilanus cv. ‘896’ is one of two gorgeous, seed-grown mother plants which we originally obtained from venerable German horticulturalist Albert Plapp (the numbers are his, to distinguish the two specimens). We’re now very happy to be able to offer cuttings of each of these great plants through Freaky Cacti!

Synonymous with Cereus fulvilanus, Echinopsis deserticola var. fulvilana, Echinopsis deserticolus subsp. fulvilanus, Echinopsis fulvilana, Echinopsis fulvilanus, Trichocereus fulvilana and Trichocereus fulvilanus, this comparatively rare columnar Trichocereus cactus species was first described in 1962, before being reclassified – as a subspecies of Trichocereus deserticolus – in 1974.

Native to Antofagasta, in Chile’s Atacama region, fulvilanus is a rather spiny, gorgeous species which produces relatively small, white-coloured flowers, making a wonderful addition to any cactus collection. It’s pretty easy to grow, as long as it’s provided with sufficient water and a well-drained soil, somewhere which receives a decent amount of direct sunlight.
