Trichocereus spachianus f. cristata [form 1] | ‘Crested Golden Torch’ | Live plant

(syn. Echinopsis spachiana f. cristata, Soehrensia spachiana f. cristata)

Trichocereus spachianus f. cristata (synonynous with Echinopsis spachiana f. cristata and Soehrensia spachiana f. cristata) is a nursery-produced crested cactus, which we’re happy to have added to our collection here in Spain. This listing is for live, rooted plants of this type, cloned from our mother plants.

Unlike the standard, columnar form of this species (which is native to parts of Argentina and is commonly referred to as ‘Crested Golden Torch’ or ‘Crested Golden Torch Cereus’), cristate Trichocereus spachianus grows as a fan-like cactus, light-to-dark green in colour and comparatively minimally-spined, in increasingly compilcated fashion.

We grow ours in the same way as other cristate Trichocereus mutant forms – in a well-drained soil somewhere sunny, watered lightly once every two to four weeks and fertilised lightly a couple of times each year. As with the crested Trichocereus pachanoi forms, it’s easy to propagate this plant by cutting too.
