Trichocereus bridgesii | ‘Bolivian Torch’ | Live plant

Freaky Cacti proudly offers limited stocks of these young and healthy Trichocereus bridgesii cacti – the legendary ‘Bolivian Torch’!

Grown organically outsdoors in Spain, these fast-growing and sought-after cacti are offered as rooted plants of various sizes.

Found growing naturally in the high deserts of Bolivia, bridgesii (closely-related to the famous ‘San Pedro’, or Trichocereus pachanoi, and ‘Peruvian Torch’, or Trichocereus peruvianus) is an impressive columnar cactus, known variously by the indigenous populations of Bolivia as ‘Achuma’ or ‘Wachuma’ – although these names are sometimes also used to describe pachanoi and peruvianus too. Although similar in many ways to its relatives in the Trichocereus genus, bridgesii is a much skinnier type than most, which is also slightly more prone to rot if over-watered. ‘Bolivian Torch’ can grow up to around five metres tall, and up to twenty centimetres in diameter. It has evenly spaced spines that can grow up to roughly eight centimetres long.

As with most Trichocereus cactus species, this plant is easy to grow indoors or outdoors in USDA Hardiness Zones 8-11, as long as you plant it in free-draining, mildly acidic to mildly alkaline soil and provide enough light, nutrients and water. Space young plants roughly three metres apart to allow them enough room to reach maturity.
